This morning my bass collided with the Earth shortly after my pre-class practice session in a freak-accident. The metal clip that attaches my Bobelock bag to it's shoulder strap broke en route to the locker room, leaving my precious, rental, '66 Juzek to the mercy of gravity, and me to the mercy of my bass professor. The seam connecting the top to the sides of the lower, g-string side of the bass was popped open, and the neck joint is comparable to a 5 year old's loose tooth. Maybe salvageable. Maybe not. What's certain is that I'm on electric bass for rehearsal tonight, and I don't know what to do with myself now that my plans for rhythm changes and arco practice are shot for the day.

I trust that the University has the bass insured. Stuff happens.
Is there another bass available that your music dept. will let you use? |

Sorry to hear about it! |

My friend's Kay's lower bout was completely smashed up for the same reason when he was travelling with a strap. I try to keep both hands on both hands at all times for that reason. I also travel with a KC bass buggie.
I'm sure it's insured and it's not the first time. You'll be fine |

The key is to be careful and have some kind of backup no matter what you're using to carry around your bass. |

yeah, the seam was no big deal to my veteran professor, but when he saw the neck joint, it was sad sad times.
the rental guy at my school said the exact same thing; "stuff happens" and they are going to pay the repairs. and hopefully they will have another bass at my school for me to use - we'll find out tomorrow!
all of this, three weeks TO THE DAY before I am planning to pick up my very own, brand-new, Shen flatback Willow. so sad that the Juzek had to take a hit so close to the end of my time with it. I feel like I've involuntarily hurt a small child...I've spent too much time with that bass... |

I am sure it will be fine with a little glue. No worries. Tim and Craig have your back. Just always keep your hand on a handle as well as your shoulder through the strap!

I was having the last lesson of the day, had music theory before hand and music rehearsal afterward.
Long story short, some douche bag thought it would be a laugh to play Air gaytar with it in its bag. He leaned it on the bench and it fell over right on the headstock. The neck joint snapped and the prick wouldn't own up to it so there wasn't a way that the school could compensate.
I tried to fix it with some clamps and some glue but it made the action so high that it hurt your fingers just looking at it.
