No respect...Kay base?

From this morning's newspaper:

VIOLIN, Dog House Base, Full size. Old. Good cond., Kay, $500.

Can't get no respect, huh?

PS Wondering if I have the time and the spare $500

Yup, I'd agree it's a find. I just called and was told it was blond from 1947. The neck had been repaired with a dowel through the heel, I was told it was a pro job. He also said the price in the paper was wrong and he wanted $800 but might settle for $600 I'll have a chance to see it this evening.

'47 Kay "Base"

Oooh! Ooooh! Go get it! Did you see the thread on the beautiful restoration of a Kay? Good Luck! Even if you don't keep it, you could make a few bucks on it.

As it turns out, it was already sold by the time I called back to see it.

OTOH, I have an American Standard (1960s era) that's doing fine...currently getting some orchestral use in community theater pit.
