Online retailers that do layaway

anybody know of any online retailers that do layaway of uprights. i don't want to get into the credit card run around. My first choice is Engelhardt EM 1B but I haven't seen any online retailers that do layaway. Plus add to that the cost of shipping to Hawaii, i'm kinda in a quandry. any advice is greatly appreciated.

My advice is to identify the bass you want, then speak to various dealers. Layaway can, after all, be thought of as a way to capture pricing. Given that you pay in until it's paid, the dealer has the use of your $$$ and doesn't have to deliver until full payment is made. Seems to me that dealers might be quite receptive to this arrangement even if they don't advertise it as "official policy." I suggest making a few calls.

I'm assuming it is just that you don't want to do the credit card thing because of the high interest rate?
I think most shops would be happy to do a layaway plan. Make an arrangement to send them whatever you decide on per month till it's paid off. I would figure all the taxes and shipping into this to know what the total would be. Don't forget all the extras. (Bow, upgrade of strings, etc.)
Another option would be to take out a personal loan. The interest rate is going to be a lot lower than credit cards. And, more importantly, you get your bass now rather than waiting months till it's all paid off. Talk to your bank and see what interest rate you can get from them.
