Paint on an upright

Howdy,
I have a plywood upright from a local luthier that I'm thinking about painting. I don't want to do an all-over paint job. I'm thinking about just doing some detail work on the sides and back. I was thinking about using Kustom lettering enamel like used in pin striping. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
