Please help me identify my new bass

Hi all

first of all, please forgive my horrible english speaking.

I just bought a new bass and don't really know much about it, maybe some of you can help me to identify it.

here are some pics :

What I know :

It's a Czechoslovakian made bass ( there's a little sticker in the ff hole written "made in .Czechoslovakia..), 4/4 .

there's no other particular sign nowhere inside or on the instrument.

I think it has been built before 1992 (because after, this country has been divided in Czech an Slovakia...)

It's a "massive wood top" (not laminated)

The fretboard is Ebony

Nice sound and playing.

What I'ld like to know :

Somebody told me that It may be Strunal of the 70's/80's . true or not ?

I don't know about ribs and the back, are they full wood or laminated . How could I know that ? (I have detailled pics if needed)

When has it been built ?

Any tought, experiences, or advice greatly appreciated.

Greeting from Guadeloupe

Lionel

thanks for the comment ! 'Hope you'll find the right bass like I did . Basically I wasn't on the market for a new bass, but this one was just a steal for the value (I paid around 700 Us dollars for it) . Infortunately It 's been bought from a non specialised shop and they couldn't tell me nothing about this bass...

While I can't help, I think that the people who know about these things will want to see pictures of the scroll; and of the top of the back (where it joins the neck); and if possible of the label you mentioned and any others, if they're to have any chance of identifying it.

Thanks for your answer, Arnold.

I can't find pics of "olds" strunal to compare. the newer models they build don't really look like mine. I had a look to their catalogue and they don't build 4/4, massive with the archtoped back anymore .

If some of you own an older strunal, I would appreciate to see pics of it .

It look a lot like my Strunal (it's about 7 years old now). The heel of the neck is identical and the scroll is similar with identical tuning machines. The finish is very similar too. I've seen basses from the Strunal factory (marketed as Holbien) in Sam Ash and they have the same sticker inside the bass. I'd have to go with Strunal, that's my final answer.

Hi Mike, thank you very much for your detailled answer.

I'm going to read related topics here on TBDB to get more infos about Strunal.
