This is the deffinative thread on Prescott and Yankee basses; Prescotts and other 1800s Yankee Basses
Scroll around. There sre good pics and links to pics of Prescott 'f's

Ken Smith is of the opinion that Scott La Faro's bass was not a Prescott because the 'f's were not typical of most Prescotts that you will find pictured in this thread.

Here are pics of my Prescott: http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/Albu...&a=32068858&f=

The wings of the 'f's were fused w/ the top, typical of many Prescotts, but mine were cut open at some point in it's history.

Also nice Prescott pics here: http://www.nahrmannbass.com/cgi-bin/...sedBassRecords

Hi Jeff, I own an 1820 Prescott Busetto with the largest FF holes and an open back narrow eared scroll, indicating it was one of his very, very earliest double basses. He started the first one in 1829. If you'll send me your email address I can more easily transmit more pictures.
Best regards, Don Carrigan, prescottviol@earthlink.net
