Nobody has chimed in here so I'll see if I can't shed some light on this bass. After about a minute of googling I found these three links. First one is a blonde 50 for sale, second one is the dark color and third is a review of the blonde by a very legitamate bass sellar, all three in the UK. Looks like there going at about 1,000 euros a piece. That's about $1500 for a plywood bass, most likely made in china but somewhat popular in Europe that doesn't have much of a reputation. For $800 is it a good deal? Yeah probobly, but for any more then that and your most of the way to a new shen, upton, eastmen, Christopher, etc, a reputable maker. Generally if I was in that situation I would avoid no name Chinese basses but since the guys at the contrabass shop definately know what they're talking about it might be worth a shot.
Now to the more important part lol, do you have a teacher? Or atleast know other experienced bassists? Another experienced bassist can really help you out in making sure the bass is right for you and also getting you started in the right direction with technique so that you don't injure yourself in the longrun.
