question concerning humidity in Texas

Any Texas double bass players user humidifiers or dehumidifiers? It seems that a dehumidifier would be needed for the summer and a humidifier for the winter to combat the heater running all the time. I think the perfect contraption would be a humidifier/dehumidifier combo with a built-in hygrometer so that it can keep the room at the humidity level you desire, and all you have to do is fill it with water every couple days. Am I being reasonable or am I just being a humidity nazi?

I've never had problems with humidity either way in DFW. I know some players that use a dampit sometimes and some that never do. I use one occasionally if I noticed things feeling dry for a couple of days - just to be on the safe side. There just isn't much of a severe swing here. I would imagine things would be different down on the gulf coast, or way out in the desert of west TX - like we say here, "it's a whole other country"...
