Question for luthiers re ply basses......

Many of us on this forum have plywood basses. We talk about how good or bad they sound but I would like to know more about how they are built.
I am not looking to buy a bass but I am curious to know if there any major differences in the construction that you have have noticed among the following examples:
Kings/ American Standards
Kays
Epiphone
Eberle (Musima)
Shen
Upton
New Standard
Juzek
Are the neck to body designs any different? Tonebars? Bracing?
Also do any of these basses use a "better" type of plywood?
I am not looking at whatever might be seen as "the best" of my list and I realize that some have different quality "outside the box" material such ebony or rosewood fingerboards. But I have been wondering if there is much difference in the construction designs. Or does it all just come down the fact that there is not much difference and it all comes down to set-up and the player when we try to determine which bass may have the potential for more volume, a fuller sound and a clear tone ?
Thanks.
