Rental?

What's the going daily rate for bass rental? I have an out-of-towner that wants to rent my ply bass. Also, do you draw up a contract making them responsible for damage? Thanks.

Depends on where they are from and if you could possibly need a bass in their town. An obligation to lend you their bass could be worth a lot more in the future than the $50-75 you could get.
On the other hand if it is for a big production with deep pockets, you should do the contract and charge $100 a day or so.

An Atlanta rental shop charges 4% of the value of the bass (whichever you choose) per month. Another has a flat fee of $85 for a ply Gliga. And yet another has a flat fee of $100 per month for a ply Shen. These rental services are heavily focused on school programs.
