Road King, worth it to buy in this condition?

I've found a Road King for sale online but it has some possible issues. I'd have to travel 3 hours to check it out in person but I have some photos highlighting the issue. Is it worth it? (Oh, and price they're asking is around 2 grand). If the pics don't help, it looks like cracking around the neck.

Doesn't look like too major of an issue... Although I would have to be there in person to tell you for sure. It looks as if it could be saved before anything major happens. I'm not up to date on current prices for laminate's, so I'll leave that to someone else.

I'd get the crack checked out by a Luthier to make sure it's nothing serious. Neck areas can be tricky, especially if they were poorly made and glued in the first place (not saying this is, but it can be a problem).

after that, I remember King Double Basses going for somewhat more that 2k new, but the last time I actively looked up anything was over two years ago, so my knowledge is likely to be flawed. The biggest questions are would you be willing to pay 2k for it? does it sound like you want it to sound? Is that crack stable?

good luck!

The unfortunate thing is that the bass is 3 hours away and they only have time on a Sunday for me to check it out (craigslist sorta thing) so a Luthier is out of the question, unless these people are willing to let me take it somewhere, which I doubt. Probably best not to deal, especially at this price. Thanks for the help. This place is awesome.
