Well, a quick search shows R&J was a Dutch piano mfg. until 1962. The name was revived in 1989 by someone else (Young Chang). Base on this, and the price, I'd expect to see a plywood bass from the far east. Quality tends to vary widely on these sorts of instruments, from virtually unplayable to not too bad at all. If its a second-hand instrument in fairly new condition I would would suspect the lower end of the spectrum.

You'll hear a lot of 'get a teachers' and 'bring an experienced player' or ' take it to a luthier' advise here, because you should. The folks who wind up with the bottom of the barrel instruments are the ones who don't have enough experience to avoid them.

All that being said, go play it. With an experienced player, or with your new teacher.
Might be worth owning. Might be worth avoiding.

Come on guys no one else in the world does not buy this bass? The company itself should provide a nice presentation(preview) in youtube. It is purely a matter decent, especially for a bass like that, which has low cost, but it has very good reviews. think about the students... beacause only stundents will buy it... Thenks a lot...
