Van Pack

I usually bring home from the January NAMM 10-14 doublebasses in a rental van. I lay down an old 4" foam camping matress covered by flat sheets of bass carton cardboard on the floor. I pack the plywood basses on their sides on the bottom level, nesting end to end. Next come the hybrids and solids, with the lightest built instruments on the top level. I make a loose pack and usually bring extra bass covers and blankets to keep everything well-padded and safe. I've never had a problem with damage on the 450 mile trip home on Sunday evening. I could probably fit 15 basses in there, but never had that many to bring home.
