I ordered the Deluxe version with a bunch of bells and whistles. Gary asked me what design I would like for the purfling on the back of the bass. Anyone have any ideas? Pictures? Favorites? I kind of like the design on the back of Juzeks so some variation of that might be nice. I'd sure appreciate any (serious) suggestions.

Whoops, you said serious ideas. I always liked the Juzek design, though it seems to have been repeated what feels to be a jillion times.

More within reality, I did this for a blond bass recently:
This picture was before trimming it down and varnish.
Looking forward to the feedback on this thread!!! Pic's please...let's see your ideas! |

I find that when a bass has too many ornate details, they begin to compete with each other visually and the result is high priced tackyness. Not trying to throw a wet blanket on you, just trying to offer a different perspective. |

In this case, however, the bells and whistles amount to bridge adjusters, RS pickup, nicely flamed wood, hat-peg tuners. So, apart from the tuners, there isn't much in the way of "ornate-ness." I thought something simple and tasteful with regard to the purfling would be nice rather than just the usual. |

And maybe with a diamond Necklace for good luck? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
