Selling bass on consignment?

I'm thinking of parting with my blond Kay-knockoff bass that I've had 20+ years. Wondering what's the best way to proceed. I live near NYC, so I was thinking of going with David Gage, the luthier, who charges 20% to sell on consignment. I'm hoping for at least $2K.

What are other viable options of selling it?

Thanks - Doug

Why don't you put an add in the classifieds here. There's probably a TB'er near you that would take it off your hands. Or advertise it locally. I wouldn't give some guy 20% for something that you could do yourself easily enough.

My sense would be that adding to the mountain of basses ot gages(although to be fair, he doesn't have a lot of cheaper ones) would make selling it there a long slow process. Better off going with TB and/or craigslist for a bit and see if you get any nibble. Especially if your in the NYC area. You gotta be realistic about the price though if you want to cash out on it within a reasonble time.

2K sounds ambitious.

BTW, what exactly is a Kay knockoff?
