Well, goodness knows I tried, but my physiology and the double bass are not made for each other
. So I'm selling my bass. It lives in south west England (near Bristol) and it's a 2002 Stentor Messina (shellac finish), recently pimped by the Bristol Violin Shop (new sturdy tubular endpin thing, new adjustable bridge, new Velvet Blues strings). It has some kind of basic pickup on the bridge, and comes with a soft case and basic French bow.
Any suggestions as to the best places to try to sell it in the UK? Here's a pre-pimped photo, I'll try to get a better one in the next day or so.
