Should be ready in early May. Seth and I will [probably get it to the ISB in June. Will work well for folks with small hands. Maybe a new design for him to continue if demand is there (La Petit Grande)(my name). |

I've been trying to find a small 5-string bass that had, well, balls and it seems to be something of the holy grail - 5 stringers are either massive, loud and (usually) unsubtle or, if of manageable size (at least for me) with a totally disappointing low end.
Please let me know what you think (privately, if that's more comfortable).
Thanks

I am very excited about this bass and have been working on my electrics now E-C setup to start to see the advantages of the 5 string with a high C. |

I saw Edgar Meyer in concert yesterday at the Colburn School (with hugely talented students doing chamber music) I'm amazed at the sound he gets out of that small (Italian??) bass.

Louis | My goal (since I am not a chamber player or orch player) is to have the 5 string be loud enough and pronounced enough that it gets a beautiful amplified sound as I almost always am amplified. This was a fundamental requirement for the bass and Seth listened and selected woods and design to accomplish this, hence the ponderosa pine on top and a flatback design for projection. This is his first foray into this size/requirements so when I play it obviously I will know more. Hope that helps. |
