| SF Youth Symphony Basses Question Went to a concert by the San Francisco Youth Orchestra recently at Davies Symphony Hall. About seven of the ten bassists looked to be playing absolutely identical instruments: very new-looking, violin corners, moderate shoulders -- neither really sloping nor really square. The distinctive thing about them was the finish -- very light, but not really a natural pale blonde finish -- much more of a distinctly orange tint.
I'm curious as to what they were. Anyone have any idea? Is there some particular make/model of bass that's popular with Classical players at this level and matches the description I have given? I would assume they would have to be moderately priced, since most of these players are in their teens.
