Showing off my Shen

I bought a Shen Willow 3/4 last January to replace my Englehardt C-1 I've been playing since '97. I got a great deal and great service on it from Michelle Fiore at http://www.classiccontrabass.com, who's about 15 minutes from me. I went in and played quite a few basses, ended up torn between the Rogeri and the Willow. Decided that the Willow has a tone that is better suited to my playing style and situations. I've played it out a few times now, and am thoroughly enjoying it. Played a fire victims relief benefit last night and got some pictures at sound check. Here's my bass!

Congrats. I've had my Shen Willow (that I also bought from Michelle) for about 1 1/2 years. If you like that bass now, wait until you break it in a bit.

Shameless plug... Michelle's site features my playing in the background and the site was designed by our own John Sprague.

Where are you located? I played a gig in Sandwich, IL a few days ago. Are you close by? I am in Plainfield/Joliet area.

I am looking to network with DB players as I search to purchase my first bass. I was thinking of heading down to that same place to take a look at what is in stock.

Send me a PM if ya want to chat offline.

My e-mail stopped working last April and I never saw these replies!

Joe, I'm in Arlington Heights, 15 minutes from Michelle's shop.

Marc, too cool that it's you on the site. I left the site open in the background to listen to the music. It's a good design as well. I'm pretty slow to break it in (too busy with building instruments and playing other instruments to put proper time into it).
