The Sinfonica Antiqued Bass

I saw a nice full-page advert for this Double Bass, in the latest edition of JazzWize magazine!

Nice big picture and testimonies, with details of how to get one.

So I looked at the website given and it says they only deal with trade - none for sale!

OK I thought - there was a phone number give which says - phone to locate your nearest dealer!

Tried the first number they gave me and phoned the shop - no we don't sell Double Basses - but we might be able to order one for you if you want to buy a particular model!!

Arggghh - viscious circle again - how do you know if you want it, if you can't get to try it?

Anyway - I wondered if any UK people had seen these or know any places where they are sold and actually have any to try etc. ?

Not really - I was just interested that a company was putting full-page ads in a popular magazine and saying they could put you in touch with shops selling it in the UK!

Actually I got a call back from the people I talked to and the guy did say it was more complicated than he first thought and he did realise that a lot of places don't actually hold stock of DBs!

But he gave me the name of my nearest supplier that does actually stock basses - it was Healey Violins in Sutton - I always miss them when searching as I don't tend to search for violin when thinking about buying a bass!

I do intend to go along and visit them soon and if I am inspired then I might try to get the money together !

I sometimes feel there are a very small number of DB players in the UK!
