Question which size should i go for?

hi! I'm new to the double bass, and currently i am just gathering information. i've been playing bass guitar for 5 yrs and i got really into jazz, so i would like to try playing double bass also.

first of all, i would like to find out which size would fit me and what is the criteria on which the size of the bass is matched to the player? is it the size of the hands or is it height? if there is some doublebass 101 guide, please send me a link.

Read the newbie links here:

BASS FORUM LINKS (Newbie Links): PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING NEW TOPICS

I think the very first link entitled "A Beginner's Tale: From Bass Guitar to Electric Upright to Double Bass" will help you formulate some thoughts around your question.

Beyond that, you need to seek out teachers and luthiers who play double bass to help guide you.
