So I got my Bob Gollihur Bulgarian Carved Bass (Video Clip)

Been over two years now since the bass came in and I am still loving it. Just put a set of Helo Pizz strings on and am loving the growl. Unfortunately I believe that this old clip has died off and gone to bass heaven (or hell depending on how you look at it)

Glad to hear you're still digging the bass. Has it done any of the mythological "opening up" that everyone loves to argue about so much?

Yeah, Id be curious to hear the original recording + a latest recording.

Which of course wont be scientific because theres so many variables, as all the components would have settled in, but still, it would be interesting to hear and draw your own conclusions.

Chris I honestly can't give you a good answer on that. I just recently (as in 2 months or so started playing arco with any sort of regular consistency which I have been told by many others helps open up the sound. In addition to that I kept the original helicore orchestra strings on the bass for two years and some change before changing them to helicore pizz a few days ago. Does the bass sound good? Yes indeed, but it's really tough to remember exactly what it sounded like compared to know. Overall I am very happy with it as it was a substantial upgrade from my 800 dollar Chinese bass I started with back in 2004. Also I have yet to have a certified luthier take a look at it and touch it up as the original work done to it was by a fellow bass player.

These days though I dream of Clevelands and LaScalas which will hopefully be in my future
