sound of flatback vs. rounded

Can someone tell me if there is a sound difference, and if so, how they differ? I would assume the rounded back would resonate more possibly, but I'm not sure. Thanks.

Depends on the bass is the only constructive answer you'll receive. I'll now run away and hide from the soon to be battle and carnage.

There is a thread in the newbie section that covers this.

Have fun!

I think there are probably a million other variables that affect the sound as much or more. That said, maybe if you took two identical basses from the same maker, same tree, etc. Only one round and one flat, you'd hear a difference. but otherwise... Just a matter of looks and feel. I like flatbacks better, but it's purely subjective. The roundback is arguable more structuraly sound, so that might give it an edge...

In my experience roundbacks tend to be fuller and more complex, where flatbacks project better. I have a flat back and it is a cannon, but could be more rich.
