Some time ago Arnold told me about using a laser to set a neck. I mocked him claiming I didn't need it having been born with laservision. However, when I saw it in action at his shop I realized that it was the shizznazz.

But you can tell that the laser helps align the three crucial elements of straightness-the head[scroll], end of board, and centerline of body. If you look close on this pic you can actually see the laser line being bisected by the penciled-in centerline. Thanks, Arnold. |

Now look, a few hours ago we were discussing innovation in jazz and I'm not getting stuck in a "hee whack" thing. I'll edit if I have to!

Would you be willing to share the make and model of the laser you're using. I'm assuming it is similar to the type used for leveling ceilings, etc but turned 90 degrees.

Laservision plumb pyramid
This device does it's thing vertically. What is really cool is that it automatically adjusts to plumb if its platform is out of true by as much as 5 degrees. |

You mentioned on the phone about using it as a primitive laser show in your backyard. D'ya have any pix of that?!?!?
Bass looks great, with a proper channel to boot.
Good luck varnishing! |

Can't wait to get my zircon-encrusted tweezers.
