Sydney Bassists: Can you help me?

G'day everyone.

I'm a 17 year old school kid from the North Shore. I'm currently in year 12 (the final year) and am studying music for my HSC (final exams) I need to perform two pieces on the double bass. I am taking lessons and strarting to really get into the double bass. I have a bass hired from the PAU (Performing Arts Unit).

My problem is that the bass I have at home, hired from the PAU, is causing me alot of trouble. The main problem is that it is a E flat stop bass, I take lessons on a D stop, and this is really messing up my positioning and as such my intonation, which is vital for these exams. The bass also has an atrocious setup, which is really hindering my playing, eg. when bowing it becomes impossible to bow the D string without bowing G or A. I need to get a different bass to parctise on at home and play for my exams.

So, now you know my problem, i was wondering if you could help me? Does any body have a double bass with a D stop and a decent action that they could hire out to me for about three months? Or know where i could get one, i have tried the bass player and all the major shops around.

Thanks for reading every body and any help is very much appriciated.

P.S. if this is in the wrong thread im quite sorry, and feel free to move

Thanks again
Muel
