| | | I don't why i just read this entire thread...
I have absolutely no interest in either playing or purchasing a DB, but the thread was just so educational and interesting that i read the whole thing.
So i guess i'm just posting to say thanks to everyone who took time to make this as exciting as it was. Who knows, maybe someday i'm learn to play one. |

I'd find it a lot easier to be welcoming and encouraging if my first impression of you wasn't of someone running around with a sharp stick calling people names.

What about people who come to this side of things and see a bunch of people saying things like 'Electric only players, please just lurk;" do you really think that is constructive to someone's interest in pursuing a new musical direction? |

Well, I'm headed to the ISB convention this year and I hear it's THE PLACE to demo basses and get a good deal. I'll be heading up with 10k to spend, although I'm not against spending less (or 2k more) if I find "the one". You guys know what I mean. Spending the top end of my budget isn't the goal. I'm trying to find a killer bass that's within my budget and sounds great for jazz (important), and the occasional "non-jazz" setting (theatre/classical/bluegrass).
So, here are my questions:
1. Going off my criteria, which bass builders would YOU want to check out/consider purchasing?
2. Would you go for an older, seasoned bass or a quality new one (I live in Northern Texas).
I'd love some input from TB community!
Thanks,
Matt | Hello PocketGroove82.
So what ended up happening?
(I really hope you have a better story than 'Well, I left the bank with $10 000USD stuffed in my pockets, but a group of thugs quickly cornered me and.... " ) |

The army band I play with was going to send me there, all expenses paid, but some silly paperwork didn't get processed in time so I missed it. Then 2 days into the convention that paperwork went through, but it was too late. DOH!
