Talk Bass Double Bass Photo Album

While there's a thread for photos of expensive, old, fabulous, famous, etc. basses around here, I haven't seen one for the average joe bass, so here goes:

Mine: German bass, circa 1900, 7/8 size.

Cool

Here's mine! unknown plywood of either chinese or easter European lineage. I carved a new fingerboard and tailpiece as well as did a refinish [the original finish was that nasty pumpkin orange we all love so much.

These are the best pictures I could muster with my digital camera.

My bass is 7/8 panormo copy built by Rumano Solano, back in 2004.

It's a 1936 Paul Toenniges, which was the subject of this thread.

Here is a pic of mine when it was new, it still looks exactly the same:

It's a Norton prepped Shen SB-100, with a Pecanic claro walnut flame tailpiece.

Chandler Bass

Here's my Peter Chandler bass built in 2000. It's a copy of a Tarr bass. Don't you just love that orange colour. As a student said when I did a bass demo, "It looks like a plastic toy!" Thanks, kid.

I'd post the front but my picture is 7 kb's too big to upload. Grrr.

Paul, really good to see your Toenniges again! The gran on the top table is remarkable.

Joey, that's the deepest solo extended fingerboard on your Solano i've ever seen. Right on.

It's actually a cutaway, not an extension. If I ever had to play any piece that required the notes on that part of the finegrboard, I'd want to play it on my other, smaller bass anyway.

Paul, that Toenniges is gorgeous!

Right....I had Bob Ross put an extension on mine to achive the same....I didn't want a whole new board.

While technically not mine (it's a rental), I like the thread so I thought I'd contribute. This is the Shen SB-80 that is currently making the "sick cow" sounds emanating from my living room...

I've literally just started DB, and after a meer 3 lessons I've been told I can take one home for the summer to practice. This is just whatever one was in the store room at the time - I think it was built in the 60's, and it's fairly craptastic. There's a big crack in the side, and the front and back panels are coming loose near the bottom of the bass, but it's free so I'm not complaining!

I don't think it gets much less antique, old, rare, expensive or wonderful than that!!

Paul Cannon...your bass makes me feel funny..that grain...those curves...I think I'm in love with your bass. Probably doesn't sound too bad either..

For the sake of preserving the thread, heres a pic of my other bass. Its 3/4 hybrid built by Wayne Burak. Since its not my main bass, I'm able to use corellis on it. That and its smaller size make it decent for soloing.

I'll try and get better pictures later.

Mine is a 2002 Christopher 602T, fully carved with a Mike Pecanic Claro/Walnut tailpiece. Actually, the pictures don't do it justice. Many thanks to DRURB and Paul for their help...
