Lightbulb Thoughs on Adding Mass for tone and foam for Muting

Hey there I played my bass for the first time sitting and when i did i noticed when i hugged the bass with my thighs it had more volume and sustain also when you bring it right down to the ground on its side like rockabilly players it has the same effect .I know they make a brass attachment called the tone finger for EB but does anyone have some homegrown methods to add mass to the UB for tone . Also I would like to hear of your muting methods using raw materials like foam close to the bridge .

~cheers~
