Tilberg Basses?

Just played a German made fully carved Tilberg model 1000 bass at the music store down the street from me. I've never heard of this brand and TB and web searches turn up nothing other than the web site of the store where I saw the thing. With all the horror stories out there I hesitate to buy a low end new bass from a builder I know nothing about but it felt well made and played, sounded and looked so good that for $3000CND (about $2850USD) I'm very seriously considering buying the thing.
Anyone ever heard of Tilberg?

Unless you are super rich and can get into dropping 20k+ on a bass the best way is to try a bunch of them and see what speaks to you.
It isn't like bass guitar where a Musicman basically sounds like a Musicman.
brand names don't mean much, the sound the instrument makes when you play it does.
Double basses are all different play a bunch of them in your price range and buy the one that speaks to you.

I appreciate your taking the time to respond but you're telling me what I already very well know and not answering my question. If this were an older bass that had settled in I wouldn't be asking but with some makers using poorly cured wood in new low end instruments and the fact that this bass particular DID speak to me leads me very legitimately to want to know more about the company that built it. And BTW I'm not "shopping" I just stumbled onto this one....if I were seriously on the hunt I probably would be more in the $12-25K range. I just don't wanna buy a beater and find out later, "oh yeah man, ALL those Shlockovian Shindorfer basses fall apart...you shoulda asked around dude."

I'm sure Northwest Music will be able to tell me more if I talk to the right person there but it's always nice to get the opinions of people not trying to sell you the item in question.
