Time to get a real "Working" Bass
For the bassist who already owns a fully carved bass and a hybrid:

That bridge is awesome. The motto function before form comes to mind.
I wonder what it sounds like.

Very nice! That's an American Standard with a paint job, isn't it? That could be a nice bass once its repaired.

That toes the line between musical instrument and folk art. If I had the room (and didn't live on the other side of the country), I'd be tempted to put it in the corner or my living room just for the vibe.

Nope…that is not an American Standard.

That's a speed hole. It makes playing really fast easier.

I thought it would of slowed things down, just the ticket for strum and drag.

Why not? Its got the flat lip around the edge of the top, the external linings and the tuners look right to me....

Proof positive that we're paying too much for Despiau bridge blanks, i'd say.

The beautiful thing about that bridge is that its decorative features indicate a sincere aesthetic effort on the part of the maker.

Hi Jake,
Here is my reasoning. Check out the side by side pictures and look at the details. I could be wrong, but this just does not say "American Standard" to me...but again I could be wrong...I love details.

On this one it is missing the detail at the base of the scroll. AS basses have more of a carved area where the other bass is more flatten.

And last...the FF holes don't have the same shape and detail as the AS. We have several H.N. White basses that I can study these details...as they say the devil is in the details.
So there is my two cents as to why I don't think this is an American Standard.

As Thomas Dolby once sang:
They call her Hot Sauce
she's hot and spicy
but twice as nicey
although she burn me up.
They call her Hot Sauce
she's hotter than pepper
I would have kept her
although she burn me up.
