| | | | Transporting Bass to Atlanta Hello,
I live in Atlanta and I need to permanently transport my bass here, which is currently in Maryland.
I am considering flying the bass down, but would need to rent a hard travel case in order to do this. I don't think I need to buy a $2,000 case.
Does anyone know shops I should contact in Atlanta that might be able to rent me one, or any other advice about this situation.
Thanks
Louis

I use a relatively inexpensive case like this for ground travel where soft cases would be a risk. I would not consider it safe for air travel though apparently some have done it.
I don't own a proper flight trunk so in my experience, it ended up being cheaper and a lot less hassle to coordinate renting a mini van to transport basses to and from the Northeast to Atlanta. And there will be no worries regarding the handling of the instrument. |

One way to look at this is that you are in complete control of the shipping. If anything bad happens (God Forbid) you will know what exactly, rather than letting a shipping company throw the instrument around like a sack of potatoes, and having to sort through stories that no one would really be able to tell you anyway, because your package is just one of hundreds they had that day, etc.

| | | | Looks like I'll probably just drive it down. That was obviously always in consideration but I just wanted to find out how difficult it would be to fly with it given I don't have a hard case.
Thanks everyone! |
