Great bass, great people. When it got on the shipping dock, after inspecting it, I had to play it some then and there. Killin and it's not even played in yet. | Great finish for a new bass! |

Edit: The Laborie pin is fantastic and feels great. | Beautiful finish! A great looking bass. Do you have that double end pin Upton makes, where you can use either the angled or the straight end pin? 1st photo looks like a regular end pin, 2nd looks like an angled one. |

The pin I have is a little thicker I believe. They do it however you want. It works just fine with the 7/8 bass.
Thanks for the kind words toward the finish. They did a great job. I want another... ha. |

I don't know what that is, I'm waiting for my Brescian with an adjustable neck to be varnished... my students, girlfriend and friends and family wish it would happen sooner then later for all our sakes...
wish it was the concord though! that would be my choice with unlimited funds |

Hope your Brescian is finished soon, Jamie. I may have seen it in progress...check the photo...could be?
I'm not blessed with unlimited funds, either. Perhaps a higher credit limit, though In all honesty, I have been looking for a long time, and auditioned a lot of basses. The other instruments in the running were significantly more expensive than having this one built, so I feel like it's very reasonable.

The concept sounded very intriguing. I did see several necks that were not attached, but the machines were not installed yet....

His last name is Roy-- that's the downside, I guess, of having a last name that can double as a first name. Quote:

Really excited, should be a video soon | A four- and a five-string neck? Now, that defines indecision! Do you routinely stare for a half-hour at the menu in restaurants because you just can't decide?

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: Brattleboro, vt, keene, nh | | I started wanting a 5 string and Eric mocked up a customized Karr, at some point I got interested in the adjustable neck and then I saw this: http://www.patrickcharton.com/en_EN/index_b21.php
but honestly it reminds me of one of those amps with too many knobs and I just want an old ampeg with one volume, treble and bass
and then I got interested in grad school where I knew I wanted to work on a lot of solo tuning literature,
so I ended up with the 4 string brescian being that school is pretty important, a few weeks into the build I was playing a bunch of stravinsky and instantly missed the low notes (i was on a borrowed 4 string)
So I emailed Eric and asked about a extension
and he responded with "how about a second neck...enjoy your cake and have it too"
it was something we talked about earlier, but this was making it happen, he knew what would really work with me
I just feel bad for them having to deal with me and my impatience...and imagination
I could just be the guy who says "build me a bass, thanks" but..no |

I solved the wait time problem buy purchasing a used bass from another TB'er. Found a 2008 Upton Hybrid available only 100 miles from where I live, and it was only 5 miles from my brother so I went down to look at the bass and had a BBQ with family....came home with a bass!
In reality i'm a newbie at the upright and the price of a new Hybrid was a bit tough to swallow. As it is, after selling off accessories I didn't need that came with the deal my net cost on the used hybrid came in at $2600; which is by far the most expensive instrument I have bought to date. (Yeah, I know this is entry level in the world of upright basses, but ya gotta start somewhere).
