All this talk about adjustable necks and whatnot makes me think I should of got that done to my bass,I was just informed it is structurally complete, just needs varnished/ set up. Maybe if I ever get another bass...

It's a professor with some tweaks to make it fit my "style". The style in question is big and abrasive, and this bass is made to be loud and proud, with a playable upper bout for a 5'9 fella like me, and a big ass lower bout to give some sack. I tweaked the shape/color/style of the professor to be a little more french than the normal english shape, and I think they nailed every aspect of it. I'm looking forward to seeing how this sucker sounds!

Am I correct in assuming this is a flat back? ( seems to be mostly what Upton is making now)

Max, yet another great Upton Bass! I'm very happy with my UB Gary Karr Version ll Hybrid, Opus #387. Each, and everyone at Upton are very friendly, a pleasure to deal with, and a real credit to the double bass community!

UB Standard

My first double bass. It's a UB Standard Laminated. Received it in El Salvador last year.

So can I join the club?

I just drove over to the FedEx freight center to pick up my bass, Professor Deluxe op. 100 (the red one a few posts above), and boy is this thing a doozy. Powerful low end, thick beautiful sound, gorgeous red color, big but playable size, and setup perfectly. It's still a little tight, seeing that it's never been played, but if this is the starting sound, this bass is going to mature beautifully. Thanks Upton!

Beautiful bass. Good luck with it.

I can't believe you didn't drive up from Brooklyn and get it yourself!

Upton's got a great shipping deal! But this thing is more beautiful in person than in the pictures by far.

I just had to check in to say, that after two weeks of having this bass, there really is NO other option in the price range (or even close). This is a perfect instrument through and through, and without ever hearing me, the Upton folk built an instrument that enhances everything that I am trying to do with the bass. Loud, deep, powerful, and aggressive, but able to sound beautiful in a pinch! A MASTERFUL instrument to say the least, and for well under $10,000, you can't go wrong, especially with the high markup of vintage instruments these days. UPTON!

Hey guys, I just got off the phone with Josh over at Upton about a used UB Standard. Josh was very helpful, friendly and informative. Unfortunately I live all the way across the country so shipping is pricey, and the only reason I am hesitating to pull the trigger. If I can find the extra $$$ I might be lucky enough to join the club!
