I saw this particular bass in the white at the Upton barn and it was just a bold, powerful statement of bass-craft.

This is something I have thought the Uptons should do since the day they moved production from Eastern Europe to Connecticut. It's a natural fit within their design portfolio. It's also a perfect expression of what they're trying to do: Design and build basses on the spot in New England. The chance to build the classic "Yankee bass" model is just too good to overlook.

This instrument is a reflection of hard work brought to fruition.

Astute. All those European masters copied for their exemplary designs. Why not do the same with the American's.

Strange... When I click the link, all I get is a black window. Even when I search for it in the .com version of you tube.

Perhaps I need a flash update. A thumbnail shows up in the search though and it looks nice.

I like the looks of that bass. I'm somehow taking a liking to the Busetto corners since I find violin corners a little too ornate and gamba corners too plain.

To me, the Busetto style brings to mind Ford's overly ugly Edsel. Here in NH, Concord has a softer pronounciation than I heard on the video. His was more like the supersonic plane, the Concorde.

Then I guess you won't be buying one. I'm not much of a fan of Busetto corners either. As for the pronunciation of "Concord," many of us know how weirdly New Englanders sometimes speak. I'd like to hear how you say "Busetto." Check here.

Nope, I'm a Gamba guy. I've been here nearly 40 years and haven't mastered the local dialect yet.

I had this happen to me too recently. If you use Apple Safari...

Go to Safari -> Preferences -> Privacy (tab)

On cookies and... click [details]
search for youtube

select all and remove them, or just delete all the website data.

Should be all good afterwards. (If you're using another browser do the same thing with it. )

Should we use our best Kennedy accents and call it "CONK-ID"?

Yes, I think that would be authentic. You could also refer to Percy Kilbride's accent in the Ma & Pa Kettle movies to approximate how Abraham Prescott may have said it.

The model is the Concord. However you pronounce it, let's talk about the bass! Eric, can you say more about the targeted characteristics of the Concord vs. the Brescian in terms of sound?

I've always seen it as an Empire furniture thing. Done right it projects old-school Power.

Lotta people don't dig Empire furniture. But a for-real Prescott Busetto model is something to behold!
