Visited Hammond Ashley in SD yestereday...

About a mile from my work - how could I not?

Well, that I am a craptastic URB player might be one reason, but I've really had the itch to acquire and URB...

The good news is that the folks there were VERY nice, and the place was beautiful - such a contrast to typical music store...

The bad news it that the basses were expensive. Okay, that's not a shock and so it shouldn't be bad news, but I did get to play about 5 basses and did get an education on some of the differences between carved/laminate tops, flat/curved backs, neck setups...

What I'd really like to do is rent one to get a feel for what I like - alas, they don't do rentals. Maybe someone else in town does.

Anyway, ++ to Ashley Hammond - class operation, no doubt.

Yeah!! Paul over at Hammond Ashey has some sweetass basses.. all of quality stuff!! and Paul is a great guy with a great shop!! ( they dont do the budget bass stuff there!!

you can look up north at Lemurs Bass in capistrano !! Jerry (owner) is such a cool guy!! awesome to work with! and they have really nice basses also, but they also get more affordable basses as trade ins very often!! a real good place to check out!!
and they have a great string selection e.c.t!!

then there is Freedom Guitar on El Cajon blvd. they have real budget basses. and 1 somewhat decent cheap carved bass!

and lastly there is McCrea's Music in La Mesa. they have both Carved and Laminated.. just not alot but decent..
