Check the website for the contact info and then call. Lot's of people will be here this weekend http://davidgage.com/ Enjoy!!
Peace.

As we probably know, Ideal is the home for the bassesonline website. I think it's closed on weekends.

They HAVE developed a product line that is for sale there, but thinking about it in the same way that you think about Sears is probably not the best thing.....

I also love this forum. I have lurked around for a year or so and never posted. I learned to play the bass when my daugter was in high school. Her school was a small private school and in order for them to have an orchestra they invited the faculty and parents to play. My wife played the trumpet in high school and she began to play again with the orchestra. I really felt left out so I learned to play the bass. Jack Budrow taught me. His wife was my daughter's violin teacher and he was the principle bass player with the NC symphony. I know this is probably more information than you would like to know but this is my way of introducing myself.
I feel like I know everyone who posts often to this site and look forward to continuing to learn about basses and how to play them. Again thanks for responding so quickly to my questions. Mike |

You should call ahead, Gage's has a sales person available most of the time so you don't interrupt repairs, etc. However, when I was there they were gracious even though busy and let me watch the work for a while and then go upstairs and play basses for HOURS. I must have played 30+ basses.
You can do the same at Kolsteins which is out a little way on the Island near Kennedy. I stayed there half a day, had lunch and went back. Played another 30+ basses. You should call ahead there too. Weekends are their busiest times.
If you also play EBG, Sadowsky's and Fodera's both in Brooklyn along the river about 40 blocks apart. Or if you're just in Manhattan Rudy's is cool around 52nd & Broadway, I think.
Fun, fun, fun! |

Ken I enjoy the detail with which you answer each poster's querries. You must really enjoy basses, their history and tradition. I wish I could be as passionate about any particular subject as you are the bass. Please continue to share your knowledge. Mike | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
