Walnut

Heard a music teacher mention that rubbing the fleshy part of a walnut is a good way to hide scratches on a DB or any other wood instrument...fact or fiction? I'd rather munch on walnuts personally...

Thanks for reading

Fact. Try it. Worked for me on a teak table and on my bass--to a point. I suppose it's just adding oil to the finish.

Walnut oil

I have a friend whose business is making hand turned bowls and other wooden art objects. He recommends walnut oil over all other oils to preserve and rejuvenate fine woods and antiques. He says stay away from any of the furniture oils that contain any petroleum distillates.

If walnut oil is good enough for antiques it is surely right for my basses. You can find walnut oil in the salad oil section in many grocery stores. It works.

Enough wise cracks...

How much do you have to shell out for an ounce of walnut oil?
