Wayne Burak Bass - anyone have any info?

There's a bass for sale here locally in Albuquerque that is labeled

Wayne Burak
& Associates Inc.
Jacques Nicolai Model
Made in 2002

And I'm having a hard time finding information. I didn't get many hits on TalkBass or on Google when I did a search other than to discover that Wayne Burak has a shop in the Dallas area and he's more known for violins and cellos. I haven't seen this instrument yet, so I can't post pictures. The seller is marketing it as a Shen hybrid but that's not how it's labeled - does anyone know if Wayne Burak had some sort of import agreement with Shen? I plan to see it and take some pictures and post them here if anyone want to see.

Thanks,

Mark

It may be a Shen hybrid that he relabeled. If you send me the pics, I'll see if I can identify it for you. Wayne was a dealer years ago, and I haven't heard from him in quite a while. If I recall, he was headed to Europe to open a store there.

Wayne is/was a cellist in the Fort Worth Sym.
He had a Romanian Quinol Pattern at OKC this summer.

I have a hybrid bass I bought from Wayne Burak probably 6 years ago. I think it is labeled similarly. I should have asked where he imported it from, but I was in middle school at the time and didn't think of such things. For what it's worth, it's a great student bass now that I have it set up well.

Cool The Bass issue.

I managed Waynes shop for 2.5 years. I am a luthier, my name is Vincent J Lour Blanc. Wayne normally bought bass made in Asia and relabeled them. This is a common practice all over the world. He did however make improvements to the instruments before they left the shop. He is a perfectionist when it comes to setup. We often changed an end pin or tuner, and always re planed the neck and fingerboard.
If anyone has a question I might be able to help.

Vincent, nice website! The format is cool. YOU SHOULD FINISH IT! Don't tell me it's been under construction since 2008. Or, are you just another procrastinator like myself? You know they have 12 step meetings for us now.
