What do you think about this...

I've been looking at this DB for my first and I was wondering what you guys on the DB side of TB thought about it.

What questions should I be asking the owner?

Thanks!

Try and take it to a bass luthier before you buy to check out the condition. From here, looks nice and German basses tend to be well made, but there may be problems lurking below the surface that will cost $$$ to fix.

From the looks of it, I'd say that if the bass is healthy, sounds good, and plays well, then it seems like a good deal. I suggest that you take it to a luthier to have it checked out. If you absolutely can't do that, then take along an experienced DB player who knows how to check the integrity of the instrument. You'd do well to avoid, as best you can, potentially expensive problems that could make it a very poor deal (e.g., loose bass bar, etc.).

Ask the same questions we recommended to BASSSNAKE when he was considering it!

If that Hofner is healthy its a good deal. Take it to an experienced bass luthier in your town for a check over before you commit to purchase. Just say 'No' to the pickup.

Good luck!
