i did a track for a pianist here in town. it was used for a film.
we recorded it in his studio. i am currently working on my first record, and i am looking for a studio. i like his settings he used on my bass, but i was wanting to get some other opinions.....
here it is. its on my main page... it auto plays in the background. http://www.evanhodges.com/site
if it doens't play, its the first track on the media section....
thanks,
evan

Cool pictures. The site could use some serious proofreading, though.
One last observation: this probably shouldn't have been posted in the Basses sub-forum, which focuses on the instruments themselves as opposed to recordings. |

Typos on first page: "Welcome, Please..." has second word (please) capitalized. The link "Commerical, TV, & Film Media" has "Commercial" misspelled, and an extraneous comma before the ampersand. More typos on subsequent pages, but you get the idea.
Another constructive comment: it's considered a faux pas to auto-play music on a page these days; people resent it if their screen suddenly starts blaring. Also, you may make a bad impression as the visitor hasn't yet to see if their volume is optimal, etc. Better to give them the choice.
Still, the site has a good vibe. Just needs tweaking! |

You are far more accomplished than I'll ever be, so my opinion doesn't carry much weight here, but your recorded tone is very unique. At least through the speakers I'm listening to, the tone is very "chewy" for lack of a better word. I dig it! |

one other small typo I noticed as I quickly read through:
Gil Evans (only one "L" in his first name) |

Autoplay does not have the effect usually intended. |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Atlanta, Ga | | | yeah thats what i was trying to accomplish. we mixed my bass twice. once to catch the bass near the f holes and one toward the bridge for my accenting and attack. the only thing is that this sound is cool for this vibe, but not for ballads and other arrangements i am working on.
i am worried that this is what the whole record could sound like... i like it but dont know if it will work with every tune you know what i mean...
and site is fixed by the way. thanks for everyones help regarding spelling errors. if we can focus the comments now to the recording, that would be cool. trying to figure out if this sound would not be to one directional...
thanks

Or you experiment with position of the mic to pick up fingerboard noise when you really dig in. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
