What does my dream mean?!?!

From the BG forum, I feel strangely at home here...

My first experience with bass was DB in orchestra where I learned for 6 years in middle and high school. When I graduated, I no longer had access to a DB so I when the cheaper route and got an electric bass where I have been for the past 13 years. Well, last night I had a dream of playing an upright 5-string. I still remember the design, one I have not seen before that I remember, and I loved the tone. The action was very comfortable, I remember the string spacing tighter that a 4 string so it made playing clean with a bow harder at first. It had a fold out adjustable peg and embarrassingly enough had line tape on the fretboard which I found useful at first. I was playing an original piece with both my french bow and pizzicato. I woke up excited I got to play an upright again, but disappointed to find it was only a dream. Does this dream mean something?

My guess is that it's probably just a dream...nothing more. My real question though, is how did you play DB for 6 years and not know how to spell pizzicato? I hope that was just a mistake.

ooops.... Thanks for picking up on that. Yes 6 years, but the past 13 have been pretty rough.

Well, it was just a nighttime version of a dream most of us here share. The difference is that we live ours! Join us-- go get a DB and return to the fold! Your brain was telling you to do that.

Not at all. It was definitely a Solid body acoustic carved bass. It was quite fat, stocky if you will and yes, I dream in color. It was a lustrous vintage cherry finish with signs of age in the wood. The tone was awesome. Full bottom, with very aggressive low-mids and smooth highs. I loved it.

JULES
That's what I've been sitting here
contemplating. First, I'm gonna
deliver this case to Marsellus.
Then, basically, I'm gonna walk the
earth.

VINCENT
What do you mean, walk the earth?

JULES
You know, like Caine in "KUNG FU."
Just walk from town to town, meet
people, get in adventures.

VINCENT
How long do you intend to walk the
earth?

JULES
Until God puts me where he want me
to be.

VINCENT
What if he never does?

JULES
If it takes forever, I'll wait
forever.

VINCENT
So you decided to be a bum?

JULES
Yes. I've decided to be a Double Bass Player.

VINCENT
So you decided to be Jules the bass player?

JULES
I will find the bass in my dreams and be whole. At that moment I'll be one with God.

VINCENT
Send me a postcard.

Welcome to the Dark Side Pako. May your bass find you soon....

I have played Electric Bass for fifteen years or so. Owned my beater Kay for ten years, but only began really playing it a year ago.

Never dreamed about playing electric.

Dream all the time now about playing DB.

must be one of those Jungian Archetypes....or maybe just gas.

The dream was between snoozes on the alarm this morning so I don't know if dinner or desert had any effects.

I like the Pulp Fiction reference! Perhaps a journey is in order and when I can't find it, maybe I am supposed to build it.

Oh man.. another fretboard crisis! There must be magical elves stealing basses and installing frets while we sleep, or at least it woudl seem with as many as have come through lately!

I'm not exactly Daniel or Joseph, but I think the Divine is obviously calling you to the dark side.. how rionic!

I've had several dreams where I found myself on stage with a trombone in hand. Did pretty well for myself, I must say.

The dream means nothing, except that you should begin playing DB again...
