Her promoters must be advising her. Who would wear high heels for comfort and stability, not to mention long term health of your feet?

Maybe then! | You don't necessarily need an expensive bass, and you certainly don't need to keep up with anyone. Sure, there are some expensive basses, and they are nice, but I'm quite content with my $1100 used Shen SB80. There are even people who occasionally get lucky with the CCBs on eBay that normally go between $400-$900, though more often than not they need a good but of work to get them playable.
If you want to get into DB, I say go for it. There are places you can rent them from, and a lot of those will put the money you paid while renting towards the price if you decide to purchase the bass. Some will even let you put it to another bass if you find one you like better. |

Nice grooves, I'm always amazed by people that can play bass [DB in particular] and sing at the same time. Esperanza & Kristin Korb are the two that come to mind. Seeing Kristin walk a line while singing a solo over it about made my brain explode.
The Czech ease, I was very impressed with the one I played at A440 here in Chicago. I was there to get my end pin replaced and they let me play the basses they had in stock. Seeing the Czech & the Eminence, I knew I wanted to try them. I really liked the Czech ease. If i needed a travel/portable bass, I would buy one. Nice sound acoustically, felt like a real bass, and I think they would sound great with the pickup. I did not plug it in, but something tells me that Gage took care of that too.

Man, she isn't just singin' standards either. She's doing olympic level gymnastics with her voice while still holdin' down da funk admirably. Kristin is also great. I wonder if playing and singing comes naturally to some. Not me. I used to be in a lounge band that did some Rare Silk and Manhattan Transfer covers and I had to sing lots of harmony while delivering grooving walking. Learning my parts was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life! I don't still sing, but after seeing that, man, I've gotta practice way more!

I got my first bass for short money and played it obsessively for a long time, in lots of places, with lots of folks.
Even as a financially challenged student, you can do it, if you want to...IMHO |
