Talking What to look for in an Upright bass- *Beginner*

Hey All,

I've been playing Electric bass for about 4 years now and i feel i want to take a swing at an upright bass!
I'm just curious about what to look for in an Upright bass when purchasing my first one. ( Good wood types, what the set up should feel like, how it should sound, how much $$$ is too much. etc)

Now my budget is pretty tight- $3000 max.

I play a lot of blues and love the sound that players like Willie dixon and Big Crawford get. I also play Jazz and Reggae.

Thanks![/i]

Check the newbie links which provide a lot of info:

You are better off if you can actually see and try out basses. The type of music you want to play will also tend to point you in the direction of set up.

You should have a teacher lined up who can also give you advice on basses.

At least you are realistic with your budget. You should be able to find a decent starter bass for that amount.
