BSX vs Eminence

Howdy

I played an Eminence but not a BSX Allegro. Anyone played both? Feelings on the pair?

I owned both, though not at the same time, and am testing one now. Different! The BSX is a bigger bodied bass, especially in depth, with a removable neck as standard AFAIK. It had a darker, bigger sound. It also seemed more rugged and 'hand-made', although I'm sure both are, even though one is domestic, and the other imported.

I have played both, side-by-side and own a BSX. To me, they both sounded similar, but the preamp on the BSX allows way more altering of the sound, as well as being able to adjust the volume of each string individually.

I've played them both, though probably some months apart.

I wasn't convinced about the acoustic character of the Eminence.

I was convinced about the BSX and I bought it. It has to be said that I've since figured out that the BSX acoustic sound is more apparent acoustically than though the pickup ... I intend to experiment with other transducers in addition to the built-in one, e.g. small mike on a gooseneck. (Bob Gollihur sells one)
