Building a EUB

Me and a friend are planing on building a EUB using a old fretless electric bass neck and bridge.... and i was just wondering what is the best thing to use for a tripod... and how to fix it to the bass so it is removeable. Anyone got any ideas. Im looking for a Electric sound but played in an upright position.
