Question Comments on NS EUB's w/ strap system

Can any of you NS EUB lovers comment on how the strap system is working for you? How does it feel? Does it get really heavy? Are you put in a awkward position for pizz using it? Can you compare to what it's like with a real DB using it?

I'm interested in the NS mainly as a practice tool especially since the strap system won't transfer string vibrations to the floor like an end pin can. I wouldn't mind using it for louder venues either if I ever ended up doing that sort of thing.

Thanks!

Thanks Mik. I noticed that in the first link, the guy just had a clevinger, but what was the strap system he was using? Clevinger's website offers no such accessory. Did I miss something?

According to Martin Clevinger that strap/harness is of Leo Eiltsī own design.

i have the strap system for my nscr5m...
it's great for pizz, but horrible for arco for me...
puts the bass too close to my body to get comfortable
with either arm position for bowing.
but it is really cool for pizz style playing at drum n' bass
shows...being mobile to run around with that bass strapped to me
is really fun, it's not too heavy at all for me and once set up correctly
the system is really comfortable.
i actually had to use a modified guitar strap, though,
the nylon one that came with it was too long to position the bass correctly for me, and too thin, digging into my shoulder.
i bought a nice thick leather strap and cut it to length,
permanently screwing it to the wood frame of the system.
come to think of it, without straplocks or screwing the strap on, the system is liable to fall right off.
hmm...more design flaws. par for the course, i suppose.
one last comment, i got my strap system at a discount,
and it was still stupid expensive for what it is.
oh well, it has some real good uses in the end, so i'm happy to have it.
cheers
doug
