David Friesen´s shortscale EUB

Had the pleasure of listening to David Friesen (and brilliant guitarist Larry Koonse) last night. Friesen now plays a new EUB by Hemage of Austria, with a 28 1/2 inch scale! He had Thomastik make him speciallyt made strings, much thicker, and he sounded absolutely terrific. (OTOH, David could probably make a broomstick bass sound great...)

Thanks Mikael!
28,5 inches?
Wow! Why so short?

For travel. It fits in the overhead compartment.

That´s right. David´s reason for having the bass built was the possibility to bring it on the planes. But he also told me that it has become his favorite bass, he even prefers it to his trusty French 1795 upright!

Send a message via Skype™ to igor kondur
and they ask 5000EUR for Hemage Baby Bass
Hermann from Hemage told me about only two basses they made for Friesen and another musician from Germany...

That's very close to a full size cello scale length
which is around 27.5"
