Do eubs have truss rods?

I don't really count

I'm slowly(actually stopped at the moment )putting together a 5 string EUB- 37" scale, thick very DB-esque neck. I figure there's enough mass there to resist the string tension; I'm not putting in a truss rod. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm not aware of other builders' practices in this area.

coool! I'm in the middle of the work with a 34" 5 string...
I think, truss rods are too weak to do anything with a THICK, DB-ish neck. And these necks can handle the string tension easily. On EUBs made with a more BG-ish, slim neck, there is a need.

A truss rod wouldn't have a chance at moving a relatively normal URB style EUB neck and fingerboard; you carve the relief into the fingerboard as needed.

The FEBGOAS (Fretless Electric Basses On A Stick) EUBs are a different story. They are essentially bass guitars, so truss rod rules may apply.

just another affirmation of what others have said. I've built two EUB's and both have very thick DB style necks with no truss rods. An inch of maple plus a 5/8 inch rosewood fingerboard is plenty strong enough to resist string tension.

My Palatino has a truss rod. However, no matter how much I crank on it or loosen it there is no change in the neck bow. Go figger.

When I build my next EUB, I'll probably drop in a couple of carbon fiber reinforcing strips:

That way I can carve the neck a little bit slimmer without needing an adjustable truss rod.

My NS CR4 has a truss rod, and I do like the fact that I can tweak the amount of relief depending on what strings I'm using. The neck on the CR4 is still fairly stout. Maybe not quite as deep as my UB, but much thicker than a Fender.
