Unhappy double bass in aircraft

Anyone who tried to move by plane and he didn't have to put his double bass in luggage store? I need an EUB. Anyone knows Alter Ego tournee? Anyone who played this instrument and can make a review?
Thanks
jps

Those instruments seem awesome. Other High end options are:

and:

Both of these are carved instruments. My Problem with the Czech-ease
Is that it is expensive and it is plywood. It was a little "Close but no cigar" for me. I prefer more Eubish qualities than plywood.
I ended up with the ergo for the price and quality.
The fact that is different keeps it from gathering dust until I travel where the Gage bass I'd only want to play if I had to.
