Well first of all, I'm sorry but I made a mistake. That copy is an ATM 35 copy and not a DPA. I'm sorry but those two mic have a similar design … sorry again.
I bought it at Thomann. Here is the link: SUPERLUX PRA-383D - Thomann UK Cyberstore.
I was not expecting to have the sound of a good mic for 57 €, but for the price I wanted to make a try of a mic on my bass.
Here are the spec. you can probably find it in the States with an other name.

I know this mic, tried one a few months ago here in China, they make them here. Not bad at all and yes, cheap! Only cost about $80 here in Shanghai. I don't know the ATM so I can't compare but this one sounds pretty good for regular sized double bass if you clip it to the f-hole to get those sounds. I don't know if Eminence players could find it useful or not as I don't play the Eminence any more, went through several other travel basses since and now that I'm more or less settled in Shanghai I just stick with a regular sized upright bass. I gotta say, even though I don't do so many fly to gigs any more these days I really miss the the easy take features that the Eminence and some of the other basses I had offer. My former Eminence, close to ten years old is still in service in Hong Kong. A friend of mine, Charlie Takahasi, good player from originaly from Japan bought it from me and uses it on all kinds of gigs, small groups and big band gigs too. He really likes it!

Spotted playing bass for The Impossible Gentlemen at the Queen Elizabeth Hall as part of the London Jazz Festival on Sunday was Steve Rodby of Pat Metheny's Quartet. The IG's usual bassist, Steve Swallow, was headlining with his own Quintet and Mr. Rodby was depping for Swallow with a lot of great playing on an Eminence EUB, which sounded really good.

End Pin "Rattle"

For those of you who noted that your end pin rattled...try what I did. What caused my rattle was forward/backward play at the composite foot end, where the metal peg and composite foot are joined. I took an 8/32" x 1" stainless machine screw with washers and a locking nut and just snugged it up to eliminate the play....no more rattle. Don't overtighten or you could crack the foot.

Someone asked me about this off list, so I thought I'd post here FWIW... I've been having good results amplifying my Eminence RN4 with a GK MB500 amp into a GK 112MBX cab. Small, light and compact, sounds good everywhere I play, and always gets positive comments. The voicing of the MB500 with scooped mids really seems to fit the RN4 well.

Has anyone figured out an equitable way to use a quiver with an Eminence bass? I always play mine seated in a regular chair, and have the top half tied to the bridge and the bottom half tied to the tailplate. It's a messy solution, at best, but it works.

Anybody have a better solution. Apologies for the multiple post.

If it helps, I took a couple of pics a while back, posted here:

http://sites.google.com/site/emmypicssite/

I use shoe laces in a "loop" and one goes over the endpin screw and the other goes on the far foot.

Pardon the bow, I usually flip it with the hair inward. Must've been in a rush that day.

Thanks Rob. It looks pretty much like what I'm doing. I was concerned about messing with the sound by tying something to the bridge, but it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Velvets

Still looking for a good solution for attaching Velvets to metal tailpiece. I tried a dowel, but I'm hoping for a better method. Velvets are too expensive to experiment with.

Thanks in advance

I use a piece of thick walled silicone tubing, cut to the same length as the brass tailpiece. I slit the tubing all the way along and then slip it over the front edge of the tailpiece.
The end loops of the strings go through the holes in the tailpiece and over the silicone tubing.

I use a piece of leather. I double it but it's not necessary.

Completely off topic... (sorry if it doesn't belong here..?)

BUT I just bought new strings (Evah Pirazzi's) & have been trying for the last hour to restring it - this is my first time (I'm an electric player).

I can't get the string in the freaking hole in the middle of the tuning peg/mechanism.. The coloured bit of the string doesn't feel like it's strong enough to hold it's shape for me to push it into the hole.

Am I missing something?! .. so incredibly frustrating.

Are you talking of the tiny hole (in the center), or the slot?
I don't use the hole at all. I put the string in the slot, put one winding to the inner side (so the string can't slip off the slot) and 3-4 more windings to the outer side (against the wood). That's it.
Most strings are too long, so I cut off some centimeters first, depending on string brand and type.
